Juniperberry Essential Oil (Juniperus communis)
Juniperberry Essential Oil has the properties of being both antiseptic and diuretic. It is therefore a very good detoxifying oil. It is particularly beneficial for any conditions relating to the urinary tract, particularly infections. It is also astringent, making it useful for oily and congested skins and for the treatment of acne. Juniperberry is also clearing to the mind and spirit and for clearing negative energy.
Juniper is an evergreen shrub or tree. It has small flowers and round berries which ripen from green to blue to black over approximately 2 years. Although Juniper essential oil is distilled from the leaves and twigs, the best oil is distilled from the berries only and is referred to as Juniperberry essential oil to differentiate it. Juniperberry has a long history of use for it?s antiseptic properties, having been used against plague in past centuries and being used in French hospitals until more recent times.
